The Hunger Games Chapter 12 Comprehension Questions

1. What is Katniss struggling to find?
 
   Katniss is struggling to find water.

2. In what ways is Katniss “playing the game?"
 
 Katniss is trying very hard not to show her emotions..


3. Why doesn’t Haymitch send Katniss water?
 
   Haymitch doesn't send water to Katniss because he is trying to tell her that there is water nearby.

The Hunger Games Chapter 11 Comprehension Questions

1. What is the Cornucopia?
 
The Cornucopia is located in the middle of the arena. It looks like a huge basket that is 20 feet tall! When Katniss and Peeta went to the arena and had to run to get supplies, all the important supplies were near it and the less important was farter away from it.
 
2. How does Katniss make it into the woods? What weapons does she choose? Why?
 
Katniss just grabs a plastic bag and goes for a backpack. A boy goes for the bag at the same time, but then he gets killed when he barely touches it. Katniss finds out that a girl tribut through a knife at his back and then she tries to hit Katniss but she misses. So, as a result, Katniosss runs into the woods with the knife that the girl tried to kill her with.

3. Why is Katniss angry at the tribute who starts the fire? Who is hunting in the pack?

The Hunger Games Chapter 10 Comprehension Questions

1. Why does Peeta reveal his love for Katniss? Do you think he really loves her? Why or why not?

 Peeta reveals his love for Katniss to win the crowd and get attention. Now that he revealed his love for Katniss, the whole Capitol is going to have something to talk about. It'll help to get sponsors. I think Peeta really does like Katniss because he's shown that he really cares for her and  he's asked her about Gale and what's been going on between them. I think he doesn't want to lose her to Gale and he might be jealous of Katniss' and Gale's friendship.


2. What is Peeta’s main concern during the hunger games? 


 Peeta's main concern is that he's worried that the games will change him, he wants to stay true to himself and he doesn't want the games to get to him. He also doesn't want the Capitol to see that the games are changing him because that's what the Capitol has been wanting to see.

3. How does the Capitol view the previous arenas of the hunger games? How many games have there been?


The Capitol views the Hunger Game arenas as historic sites.They never use the same arena again, every
game is a new arena.They are popular and they are visited a lot. People can even participate in the reeanactments.  There has been seventy three games and This is the seventy fourth.

4. What do you feel is the purpose of the Hunger Games?

 The purpose of the games is to just show that the Capitol is the highest and the rest of the districts are below it. They want to show everyone that they are the ones with the highest power and most control. They will never be defeated,they love watching people suffer. The games are consequences due to the rebeliion there was.

The Hunger Games Chapter 9 Comprehension Questions

1. Describe Katniss’ interview attire and training? What affect do you think it had on the audience?
Katniss' interview attire was a dress covered with many jewels on it. Her skin was gold and she even has stencil patterns on both her arms. She also got her nails done they had haflame designs on each of her nails. During her training, she had a very difficult time. She and Haymitch couldn't decide how she would act, she can't really act at all period. She didn't really get along with Haymitch, I think they don't get along because they are so much alike, they both have an attitude. Her affect on the audience was really good. She did good because every time she wouyld get stuck or wouldn't know what to say, the host would help her out.

2. How does Haymitch and Cinna ask Katniss to behave?

Haymitch and Cinna both ask Katniss to be her self like if she was talking to old friends. But, Haymitch was kind of being rude about it because he said that he doesn't like how Katniss acts towards him. She starts to get nervous because she doesn't know how she should act to impress the audience and that she might mess up and won't get any sponsors. Cinna tells her that when she going to answer a question to look at him so she can act like herself.

3. What do we discover about Peeta during his interview?

We discover during the Peeta during his interview that he is in love with Katniss. The host asked Peeta if he has a girlfriend and he said no. He asks Peeta if he like someone and he says yes but he doesn't know how to tell this someone because a lot of boys like her. The host tells him that he has to win The Hunger Games so she wouldn't turn him down. Peeta tells him that he thinks that won't happen because she came with him.

The Hunger Games Chapter 8 Comprehension Questions




1. What do the scores in the trainings mean to the tributes? What scores do Peeta and Katniss receive?  
   The scores in the training means to see how skilled you are in some skills. You are checked from 1-12. 1 is the least you can get that means you are not very good . 12 is the biggest score you can get that means you are skilled . By looking at the scores you could kinda see who  might win. Peetas score was 8 and katniss was 11
2. How did Katniss and Gale meet? Describe their story.
  Katniss and Gale meet in the woods because they both went out and hunted. They hunted to provide their familys with food so that they wouldn`t starve.Katniss and both Gales fathers died in the mine explosion. Gale taught Katniss somethings about hunting and Katniss also so showed him some stuff.

The Hunger Games Chapter 7 Comprehension Questions

1. What are the pros and cons of Peeta and Katniss being coached together?

The pros are that they can help each other in training. They can discover their weaknesses and strengths  to help each other out in the Games.They can give each other yips on what do do and how to do it right.  The cons are that they will know their weaknesses when they fight against each other. It is going be easy to defeat one another.


2.What reasons does Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better then him in the arena?

Peeta tells Katniss that she is better than him in so many ways.She is a great hunter and is good at bow and arrow.She has many surviving skills and strategies.


3. What are career tributes and how are they a threat?

Career Tributes are the ones who have been training for like a life time for the Hunger Games. They have skills then the other tributesand are fit. They are a well behaved tribute because they are more skilled than the rest.And they have won many Hunger Games.


4. What does Katniss do to get the Gamesmakers' attention?

 
To get the Game makers' attention, Katniss strikes an arrow right on the apple the pig had in its mouth. And Everyone just looked at Katniss. She said, "Thank you for your consideration," and walkedwith no premission.

The Hunger Games Chapter 6 Comprehension Questions

1. What is an Avox?  How does Katniss know the Avox?

An Avox is someone who has committed a crime. They cut off Avoxs' tongues.Katniss knows that Avox because she remembers the time her and Gale were hunting in the woods and the avox girl and boy were shouting for help they killed the Boy but took the girl in a hovercraft.

2. What prevents tributes from jumping off the roof? Why do you think this is in place?

There is a force field around the roof of the training center. If someone tries to jump off, the force field will sting them back onto the roof. I think there is a force field because some tributes might want to leave or try to get out of there so they won't be in the Hunger Games. They would also want to go home with there families.
3. What reasons would Peeta have for being curious about Gale?

I think Peeta is interested in Katniss. He might be jealous and wants to know if Katniss and Gale are more than  friends. He might also be confused with their own relationship, are they friends or more than
  friends.
