The Hunger Games Chapter 8 Comprehension Questions




1. What do the scores in the trainings mean to the tributes? What scores do Peeta and Katniss receive?  
   The scores in the training means to see how skilled you are in some skills. You are checked from 1-12. 1 is the least you can get that means you are not very good . 12 is the biggest score you can get that means you are skilled . By looking at the scores you could kinda see who  might win. Peetas score was 8 and katniss was 11
2. How did Katniss and Gale meet? Describe their story.
  Katniss and Gale meet in the woods because they both went out and hunted. They hunted to provide their familys with food so that they wouldn`t starve.Katniss and both Gales fathers died in the mine explosion. Gale taught Katniss somethings about hunting and Katniss also so showed him some stuff.

The Hunger Games Chapter 7 Comprehension Questions

1. What are the pros and cons of Peeta and Katniss being coached together?

The pros are that they can help each other in training. They can discover their weaknesses and strengths  to help each other out in the Games.They can give each other yips on what do do and how to do it right.  The cons are that they will know their weaknesses when they fight against each other. It is going be easy to defeat one another.


2.What reasons does Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better then him in the arena?

Peeta tells Katniss that she is better than him in so many ways.She is a great hunter and is good at bow and arrow.She has many surviving skills and strategies.


3. What are career tributes and how are they a threat?

Career Tributes are the ones who have been training for like a life time for the Hunger Games. They have skills then the other tributesand are fit. They are a well behaved tribute because they are more skilled than the rest.And they have won many Hunger Games.


4. What does Katniss do to get the Gamesmakers' attention?

 
To get the Game makers' attention, Katniss strikes an arrow right on the apple the pig had in its mouth. And Everyone just looked at Katniss. She said, "Thank you for your consideration," and walkedwith no premission.

The Hunger Games Chapter 6 Comprehension Questions

1. What is an Avox?  How does Katniss know the Avox?

An Avox is someone who has committed a crime. They cut off Avoxs' tongues.Katniss knows that Avox because she remembers the time her and Gale were hunting in the woods and the avox girl and boy were shouting for help they killed the Boy but took the girl in a hovercraft.

2. What prevents tributes from jumping off the roof? Why do you think this is in place?

There is a force field around the roof of the training center. If someone tries to jump off, the force field will sting them back onto the roof. I think there is a force field because some tributes might want to leave or try to get out of there so they won't be in the Hunger Games. They would also want to go home with there families.
3. What reasons would Peeta have for being curious about Gale?

I think Peeta is interested in Katniss. He might be jealous and wants to know if Katniss and Gale are more than  friends. He might also be confused with their own relationship, are they friends or more than
  friends.

The Hunger Games Chapter 5 Comprehension Questions

1. The presentation of the tributes seems to be greatly focused on visual presentation and looks — what does this reveal about the belief systems of the Capitol?

I think that they care a lot about how they look. Every tribute has a stylist that helps them  to get ready and look nice at the ceremony so they would look good.

2. Compare and contrast life in the Capitol to life in District 12.
  
Life in the Capitol is  a lot easier than the life  in District 12. People there don't have to go threw the trouble of hunting for food. They have their food like with a snap of their fingers. The Capitol, unlike District 12 always has electricity. People at the Capitol also don't have to worry about getting chose to be in the Games.

4. Why is it so hard for Katniss to trust Peeta's kindness?

It's  difficult for Katniss to believe Peeta's kindness because she doesn't know his realfeeling towards her. Katniss believes that he is just being kind so she can be simple to confuse. She thinks that he is just pretending to be kind.

The Hunger Games Chapter 4 Comprehension Questions



1. Do you think Haymitch will be helpful as a mentor? Why or why not?
 He wood be a good mentor because he could to teach them how to live out in the wilderness. Also how to behave because electricity or water.

2. What does Katniss mean when she says: “A Kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one”? 
It means kind people could actually be mean people but are actually bad acting nice.That she thinks that you can`t really trust anyone.



3. What happens to convince Haymitch that Peeta and Katniss might be fighters? 
 
Peeta and Katnisss  get in to a fight. Katniss punches him in the jaw.And Katniss almost cuts Peeta`s finger off.



4. What is the first honest advice that Haymitch gives them? 
Haymitch tells them that they can not like what they do to them, but they need to listen. Haymitch tells Katniss and Peeta to not resist their stylists.

The Hunger Games Chapter 3 Comprehension Questions

1. Who comes to say goodbye to Katniss? list.


The people that said goodbye to Katniss are her mother and her little sister Prim. Then Gale comes to say bye. Then Madge comes after to come see her. Even Peeta’s dad comes to visit Katniss.

2. What does Madge give Katniss as a gift? What significance does it have?

  Madge gives Katniss her gold pin. It is so that Katniss can have a something from her district. Madge also gives her a kiss on Katniss`s cheek. 


3. What instructions does Katniss leave for her mother?

Katniss tells her mother to take care of Prim. . She also tells her mom that Gale will bring her  food from the forest for mom and prim. Katniss tell her mom to give Gale something for him helping them.


4. What act of kindness does Peeta’s dad show to Katniss? How do you think this man might of influenced his son?

Peeta's dad said that he would make sure Prim did have food to eat. This man influenced his son in a good way because thats what someone with a good heart would say.

5. What advice does Gale give Katniss about surviving the games?

To try and get the bow and arrow first then the rest.

Chapter 2 Questions 

1. How does Katniss save her sister from the reaping?

During the reaping Katniss saved her sister by volunteering herself and taking Prim's place.


2. Who is the boy tribute selected? How did he save Katniss life when she was 11?

Peeta Mellark  was the boy tribute selected. He saved Katniss life when she was eleven and couldn't buy anything for her family .He helped save her from starvation.

What kind of person do you think Peeta is? What evidence from the book led you to come to this conclusion?

I  think Peter is a kind person. He helped Katniss even though he knew he would get punished.


4. Why does seeing the dandelion after her father's death give Katniss hope?

The dandelion gived Katniss hope because when she went hunting with her father she used to see them so it gives her happiness strenght and joy

The Hunger Games Chapter 1 Comprehension Questions

                       

1. Describe District 12.

   District 12 it has black cinder streets that are empty. It has miners crawling early in the morning  heading out  for there shift and has both men and women with hunched shoulders and swollen knuckles.Shutters on gray houses are shut. And it has a high chain-link fence topped with barbed-wire loops to divide the meadow from the woods. 


2. What illegal activity does Katniss participate in doing?  Why does she need to do this?

Katniss participates in entering the woods and entering the woods is illegal and poaching carries the biggest of the penalties. Katniss goes into the woods because they want to eat fresh meat and you could only get fresh meat outside in the woods but it is very dangerous.

3. Describe the relationship between Gale and Katniss. Do you have a relationship like this in your own life? Explain

Gale and Katniss  are good friends. Gale calls Katniss Catniss because when she told him her name that how he understood it because Katniss whispered it. There relationship is like brother and sister because they go into the woods together.  

4. How is Madge different from Katniss and Gale?

Madge is the mayors daughter. Madge`s wear pretty dresse and her hair with a bow.   

5. What is the reaping? do you think this practice is fair? Explain.

 The reaping is the annual event that takes place in every district before each hunger game.In the they decide whos going to be in the games.


6. Who is selected at the reaping?

The person picked is Primrose Everdeen.
