The Hunger Games Chapter 27 Comprehension Questions

1. What goes on during the final interview?
 
 During the final interview, Ceasar interviews both Peeta and Katniss. They show their affection.Peeta even kisses Katniss. Ceasar asked Katniss when was it that she knew he really liked him. Accoring to Haymitch, she answered it perfectly with the help of Ceasar. Katniss also barely found out that Peeta had a new leg.
 
2. What happened to Peeta's leg?
 
  Peeta got his old wounded leg replaced with another new leg. Katniss felt bad for what happened to Peeta's leg. 
 
3. Why does Katniss feel torn in the end?
 
  Katniss was torn at the end because she was really confused. She didn't know who she really was or had become during the games. She was confused with her feelings towards both Gale and Peeta.


4. What does Peeta realize?
 
 Peeta finally realizes that Katniss was faking being in love with him. He didn't know that she did all of that to survive the games. Peeta was hurt. Katniss didn't know what to tell Peeta about that. She was confused with her feelings towards him.

   The Capitol healed Katniss with a liquid that went into her veins with the tubes she had on. She kept losing consciousness. Katniss got her hearing back. All her scars were gone.
 
2. What does Haymitch reveal to Katniss before she sees the crowd?
 
  Haymitch revealed to Katniss that the Capitol was furious with her. He said that they didn't like what she did with the berries. He said that the Capitol was the joke of Panem.

The gamemakes drain the streams and the ponds.They drain every water source except the lake.

2. How does Katniss feel about Cato?
 
She feels bad for Cato, no matter what hes done. She want him to stop suffering from the mutts.He is just a bloody mess after the attack.

3. How do the final three meet up?
 
Cato is shot with an arrow on the fore head. After getting attacked by the muttts, he is bleeding and weak. Katniss finishes him off easily. They meet up by the cornucopia.The last two alive meet up by the lake.

1. How do the Gamemakers try to drive the last tributes together? 
 
The Gamemakers try to drive the last tributes together by drying out the river. The Gamemakers must know that the tributes are looking for water. They are driving them back to the lake. They want to see the tributes in action against each other.
 
2. How does Katniss feel about Cato? 
 
Katniss feels that Cato has a special hatred against her. She feel as if she doesn't have a chance against hi. He is well trained, unlike Katniss that hasn't been trained to kill her whole life. She also kinda feels as if she can realte to him when he loses his temper easily.
 
3. How do the final three meet up? 
 
The final 3 tributes meet up when they see Cato running towards them. He is wearing a handmade armor. They notice that he's been running for a while, and away from something. They finally see that a pack of mutant-like wolves/dogs have been chasing him. This is how they meet up.

1. Why does Thresh's death affect Katniss? 
   Thresh's death affected Katniss because he let Katniss go. He let her go as a thank you for what she did for Rue. Thresh let her live. She was really sad because she didn't want him to die. She felt like she could really be friends with him.
 
2. Who is left in the arena? 
 
    Katniss, Peeta, Cato, and Foxface are left in the arena.
3. What Katniss' fears if she wins the Games? 
   Katniss fears that she might not know who she is when she doesn't hunt anymore. She is afraid of losing her identity. She has been hunting her whole life and to just stop andn ot worry about food scares her. She also doesn't want to end up like Haymitch, alone.
4. What happens to Foxface? 
    Foxface secretely took some berries that Peeta was gathering. Peeta nor Foxface knew that those berries were poisonous. As soon as Foxface ate a berry. . . she died.

The Hunger Games Chapter 21 Comprehension Questions


1. Who's the first to get their pack?
 
Foxface is the first tribute to go in her pack. She just went in to get it and nobody did anything to her. Katniss got mad and jealou because she wanted to do that.
 
2. Who catches Katniss?

Clove is the one who catches Katniss. She attacks her to the ground. Katniss is pinned down and can't get up. Clove gets her knife and starts to cut her lip. Then, someone comes and pushes her off of Katniss. it was Thresh!
 
3. Why does Thresh let Katniss go?

Thresh lets Katniss go because Katniss told him that she didn't kill Rue. He knows that they were allies and that Katniss did something nice to her when she died. 
 
4. Why does Katniss think Cato will go after Thresh and not her?

Katniss thinks Cato will go after Thresh beacuse he took his districts pack. Katniss knows that Cato really needs tho supply that's in the pack. He'll do anything for it.

The Hunger Games Chapter 20 Comprehension Questions

1. What is Peeta's condition? 
 
    Peeta is in  bad condition. He can't really move because of  his wounded leg. His leg hasn't improved. The swelling got worse. He has Blood poisoning. If he isn't treated, he will die. He also still has a very high fever.
 
2. How do the Gamemakers try to entice the tributes? What does Katniss think they have for her? 
 
  The Gamemakers announced that there was going to be feast. They also say that at the feast, there was going to be backpacks for each district with something they really need. Katniss thinks they have something to heal Peeta's leg.She wants to go, but Peeta doesn't let her. He doesn't want her risking her life for him.
 
3. What does Haymitch send Katniss? Why?
 
     Haymitch sends Katniss sleep syrup. At first katniss is disappointed with it, but then she knows why he sent her that. He sent her that so she could put Peeta to sleep while she goes to get the backpack at the feast.

1. How does Katniss find Peeta?

   Katniss found Peeta camouflaged in the mud. He was laying under a layer of plants and mud. All you could see was his blue eyes and white teeth.
2. What is Peeta's true talent?
 Peeta's true talent is baking. He can make and decorate bread. His frosting skills came in handy. He was able to frost himself with mud.Camouflaging is also one of his talents. He camouflaged well with the mud and plants.
3. How does Katniss treat Peeta's wound? 
 Katniss treated his stings from the tracker jackers with the mint leaves Rue used on her. She also used the leaves for his leg. She also gave him pills for his high fever.
4. Where do they hide out? 
 Katniss and Peeta hide out in a cave. Katniss wants to hide up in a tree but peeta is severely wounded.
5. How and why do they get the pot of broth? 
     They got the pot of broth from Haymitch. He sent it to them because they finally kissed. Katniss right away knew the meaning for the broth. She knew that Haymitch was happyt hat they were trying to get more sponsors.

1. What does Katniss do for Rue? 
 
      When Rue died, Katniss covered her with flowers. She wanted to Katniss understood what Peeta said.She finally understood Peeta had said.
 
 
2. Who sponsors a gift for her? What is it? 
 
   District 11 sponsors Katniss a gift, a loaf of bread,she thinks it is some sort of thank you because of Rue. It is the first time a district gives a gift to a tribute that isn't from their own district.
 
3. How does Katniss' attitude change after Rue's death?
 
  After Rue's death, Katniss' attitude completely changed. She was furious with the cruelty they have to go through because of the Capitol. She has so much hatred against the Capitol. At that point she would kill anyone who would come her way

  The Gamemakers announce that there could be 2 winners this year. They said that if there are only 2 tributes from the same district alive, they will both win. At first Katniss is confused because there has never been a change in rules. But then she is happy because that means that her and Peeta could survive.

    In the explosion Katniss' ear started bleeding and she was afraid that she had gone deaf. She also got really dizzy and couldn't really walk.

     Katniss leaves the rendezvous point because she doens't find Rue. She starts finding her in other places she thinks she might be.
 
3. What happens to Rue?
 
    A Career trapped her in a net. Rue kept yelling for Katniss. As soon as Katniss got there, a boy from District 1 stabbed her with a spear. Katniss takes care of Rue, but she ends up dieing.

  Rue's favorite thing is music. She says that at home she sings while she works.. That is why Rue likes Katniss' mocking jay pin. Rue sings with the mocking jays.

5. Why can't Katniss get to the bounty of supplies? How is she able to destroy it? 
 
  Katniss can't get to the bounty of supplies because it is mined. The whole area is full of mines that the boy from District 3 set-up. Katniss is able to destroy it by shooting three arrows in the bags full of apples. As soon as the apples fell, the whole place exploded.

1. Who forms an alliance with Katniss?
 
  Rue forms an alliance with Rue, Rue saves Katniss' life many times. Every time Katniss looks or thinks of Rue she imagines Prim.
 
2. How does this alliance benefit both parties?  
 
They each have supplies the other one needs. Rue gives Katniss mint leaves to cure the stings. Katniss gives Rue medicine for her burns. Katniss also gives Rue meat which she not used to eating.
 
3. What are some differences between District 11 and District 12?
 
  District 11 and District 12 are both different . District 11 is agriculture and District 12 is coal mining. Katniss thinks that her District is really strict, but Rue's district is even worse. Even though Disrict 11 is agriculture, they can't eat the food they plant or work with. If they do, they get whipped in front of everybody in the District.District 12's mayor isn't as strict as District 11's.

  When Peeta finds Katniss, he's mad because she is still there. He tells her to run. Katniss can't believe thet Peeta just saved her life.

Katniss is hallucinating, she sees things that are obviously not there. She falls and trips everywhere,and she sees ants crawling all over her body.
